Rhees Eats Food...
I know I have no pictures...but just as it was with Terje, I didn't choose a day, just one day it made sense. Like I noticed he really watches us when we are at the table. And well I hope to have him night weened in a month or two and hope that having more calories during the day will help with that. Two days ago I let Rhees try some avocado. He did a good job keeping it in his mouth and genuinely seemed to like it. Then again the following days he still seemed to like it. This morning we tried baby oatmeal. I decided to skip rice cereal as it totally backed Terje up and we had to give him apple and prune juice. Anyway...baby is beginning to taste stuff. Not full on meals yet, just trying stuff out. He does a good job except that he likes to put his hands in his mouth when it's full of food...MESSY!

Time sure does fly, and kids grow up quick. Geez! I remember with Lucy it was quite the same, one day it just felt right to offer her food. How has it been having two children, now that you are to the 6 month point...easy breezy or challenging here and there? I only ask because, I am 15 weeks along! :) June 13th is the due date, isn't that close to Rhees's birthday? I have not totally announced it as I will be in So Cal soon and want to tell my Aunties myself, but I figure they won't be reading your blog (though maybe they should! :)
I noticed you went off facebook? Sometimes I think I should because although I have a compulsive habit of checking it on my phone all the time, and mostly I am just irritated by postings. So silly! I get sick of the facebook perfect world, but then I do like my blog and share mostly the positive, so I guess i have a double standard. I know that you have been feeling very passionate lately. Actually, it seems like whenever you discover something that means a lot to you and changes things for you, you are very passionate about it, and strong with your opinions. :) I don't like to get into political discussions online, it seems to only lead to arguing, with each person believing strongly that their opinion is correct and cannot be swayed. I actually learned in high school to just stay away, after being in one too many heated debates myself. Like I have said before, we have gotten Reason mag for years now, and I find myself in agreement with much of what I read, but then some things I feel so opposite about, and that is where I have trouble. I will say that I have been giving Ron Paul more thought, and keep hearing about him on NPR, so at least some news is reporting on him! I have been feeling so god-awful (times 10!) that it has been difficult to feed Lucy and go to work, let alone watch some of the movies you posted, but now I can't go back to your links...:)
I know from personal experience how frustrating it can be when you find something that so resonates with you, and makes so much sense, and you want to scream it from the rafters "wake up!" Keep sharing your truths, listen to others with an open mind if you are asking them to listen to you with an open mind (which is always the hardest part for me :), and keep hope that things will keep getting better, not worse. It is scary, thinking about the future, and Lucy, and what it is going to be like for her. It does feel like I have such little say in the ways that this country/world works. I will admit to being burned out on it, not seeing real change in the decade or so that I have really been aware of some of the injustices in this country. At the same time, I have met more people from other countries who remind me how lucky we are to be able to focus on problems bigger than how to get clean water and food.
I hope that you are enjoying the Christmas season! We will be down for a short trip, I wish we could see you. I should be down in April for a longer trip, and staying in Oceanside, so perhaps then. Hopefully this pregnancy differs from my first, and I have a good second (and third!) trimester. So far, still hard, but it is worth it in the end. I am excited to see who this little person will be. And maybe I can actually post somethings on my blog which I am sooo far behind in. I should just let go of wanting to get things up there in order! Miss you!
Love, Koree
Koree, I sent you a private email, but wanted to share my thoughts on Ron Paul that I shared with you, here for others. (my other 1 or 2 readers...lol) Ron Paul. No I don't think he can save this country in 1 term or even 2, however I vote for him on principle alone, and I hope he inspires more people to see government and politics as he does. He has certainly inspired me to action...I can't do much with the babies right now, but I did join a meet up group for Ron Paul, I've passed out info cards on him, I have super brochures...etc...and I plan to have a Ron Paul house party sometime next year. I've read 3 of his books now, and while he's not the best writer, nor terribly persuasive, you do see he has experience and knowledge on his side. His pro-life argument for babies and death row inmates really changed my view on those topics. But since learning more about the libertarian ideals I've read other libertarian news/blogs/sites, and have found other "liberty" leaders to follow and learn from, and the message is rather exciting, but it's not one our generation, or even our parents generation are ready to hear, because for most of our lives our liberties have been chipped away at, and we've been scared into giving them up. Ron Paul really is the only peace candidate...and for that reason I also choose him. Why should we be slaves to this country's military industrial complex/empire/war???? the biggest waste of life and money in our country and waste liberty of the people in country's we occupy. 30% of our personal income goes to the government and most of that money is spent on war, and another 20% of what we spend also goes to the government for welfare programs and other wasteful unconstitutional spending...and I'm not even speaking of inflation...which is also a tax. Watch your grocery bill go up again next year and tell me inflation is not a tax. So no Ron Paul can't fix the mess in a term or 2, but I think choosing an honest person who is a threat to the establishment is a HUGE step in the right direction. His campaign contributions come from people, not special interest groups or giant corporations...that is very telling...his campaign is grassroots all the way and he is beating or holding rank with other politicians who the media owns and pushes on us. (it shocks me when I tell people about Ron Paul and they've never heard of him, the media deliberately ignores him or plays down his success) and by the way the media is owned by a few elite corporations who have an interest in keeping certain people in office. our government is corrupt and people are waking up.
